Job description
Apprentice will work independently and directly with assigned technician who will be responsible for their performance and training.
COMPENSATION
- Hourly $18/hr while in program, $18/hr Flat Rate upon completion and assignment as a C Level Collision Technician
- $5,000 Tuition Reimbursement or Tool Allowance upon completion of program and promotion to a C Level

Requirements:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
The program will consist of 4 segments of 525 hours and Apprentice will receive a performance evaluation at the end of each segment. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Work conditions:
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Must be able to sit and stand repeatedly without restrictions for up to an 8-hour shift.
- Must be able to enter and exit vehicle with no restrictions.
- Some heavy lifting (up to 60 pounds) may be required as needed.
- Other physical duties may be assigned.
Responsibilities:
COLLISION APPRENTICE ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Essential Duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Detail vehicles to ensure they are presentation ready for guest pick up. All paperwork is processed and in order and R.O. is completed.
- Assists Master Collision Tech and Collision Technician and learns hands on in the following
Phase One (First 1050 Hours or till signed off as proficient by shop foreman)
- Repairs vehicles per estimate and according to manufacturer standards.
- Repair damaged vehicles as per estimate up to and including framework. Must meet all specifications of manufacturer, I-Car, and dealership.
- Checks parts against estimate and ensures proper parts are ordered and received.
- Prepares vehicles for body repair work.
- Notifies management of any additional repairs needed.
- Notifies management of any difficulties or problems that may prevent a quality job from being performed or cause a change in the promised time.
- Maintains tools and equipment in a proper state of repair.
- Maintains and wears all required safety and health personal protective equipment, including respirator, in the manner recommended by the equipment manufacturer.
- Complies with all laws and regulations pertaining to paint, thinners, and other hazardous materials. Reports any deviations to management.
- Cooperates and assists other personnel in the repair and prepping of vehicles.
- Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations that affect body shop operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.
- Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
Phase TWO (Second 1050 Hours or till signed off as proficient by shop foreman)
- Operates and uses all body shop equipment properly and safely.
- Removes rust from metal, and grease and dirt from work surface.
- Masks and protects parts that are not to be painted or coated.
- Fills cavities and dents with putty to attain smooth surface.
- Responsible for final finish including filling small flaws, scratches, and pitting
- Mixes paint according to specifications.
- Selects and mixes coating liquid to produce desired color.
- Paints surface using sprayer or brush as appropriate.
- Inspects painted units for quality of workmanship, noting any runs, sags, and unpainted areas.
- Heats and sprays wax onto products after they are tested.
- Maintains tools and keeps equipment clean and in a proper state of repair.
- Keeps work area clean.
- Maintains and wears all required safety and health personal protective equipment, including respirator, in the manner recommended by the equipment manufacturer.
- Complies with all laws and regulations pertaining to paint, thinners, and other hazardous materials. Reports any deviations to management.

- Responsible for finished clean Product including nibbing and polishing
- Repairs vehicles per estimate and according to manufacturer standards.
